Post Natal Doula
‘Even the mother needs a mother’
Erica Jong

Investing in your care after birth is a beautiful way to support yourself as a new mother enabling you to look after your baby and enjoy this precious time. These first weeks can be a roller coster ride of exciting highs and falling in love to exhaustion, tears and many challenges.
My work is about empowering a family to take care of yourself and your baby helping you to relax, enjoy your baby and find your own way of parenting. Having a doula can mean enjoying some of the benefits of a prolonged ‘lying in’ period allowing you to rest and recover from the birth and begin to get to know your baby and adjust to the huge transition of becoming a parent.
This can last a few weeks or months depending on your unique families needs. I can pop by for a few hours a day 2 to 3 days a week. I request a minimum of 3 hours per visit but apart from that hours per week are flexible and can be worked out on a week by week basis depending on how you are getting on. I have been lucky enough to help families out with first, second and third babies, twins, siblings and pets. The dog still needs walking even though they have become low down on the priority list!
I offer practical and emotional support in your home and can help in the following ways:
Time to bond with your baby or spend time with older children
Support in establishing feeding whichever method you choose
Making sure there are supplies in the fridge / cupboards and doing light housework
Cooking or preparing meals so you don’t need to
Cuddling your baby or taking them out for a walk while you bathe, shower or take a much needed rest
Be a listening ear while you debrief your birth or a sounding board for feelings about motherhood and worries you may have about your baby or your own healing
‘Sincere thanks for being there for us when we needed you. For listening, for soothing, for your calm presence, for all the little helpful, thoughtful things you did, for the beautiful and delicious meals you cooked and the treatments administered. We won’t forget your kindness.’

What Families Are Saying
‘Robyn was the most wonderful support at such a huge change in our lives and gave us a break from the baby and all the everyday chores which became like huge mountains to climb. I would like to thank her for all her help, support and advice. She was perfect, suggesting things but always letting me find my way as a new Mum and with her homeopathic qualification helped me get better too.’

‘We very much appreciate the support you gave us over the last months. There were many times when we would have been lost without you! Thank you so much for your kindness.’
